Pacific DanceArts began as an idea for Li Yaming, artistic director and Andrea Allen, school director. That idea was to establish their own school and train dancers on a professional level in ballet and other forms of dance with a distinct method of training that encourages and supports dancers along their path to attaining a career in dance. Their idea was realized when Pacific DanceArts opened its doors in September of 1999.
Pacific DanceArts is now an established dance academy in Vancouver, Canada. Since the school's inception in 1999, Pacific DanceArts has built a reputation for its high standard of training while retaining young dancers' love of dance. Pacific DanceArts houses one of the largest studios in the lower mainland with a gorgeously designed open floor plan, and state of the art sprung floors, covered in top of the line Harlequin flooring.
Pacific DanceArts is for students of all levels, with a proven commitment to excellence in training. Pacific DanceArts' training programs range from pre-school to pre-professional with both general and professional programs offered. Students range in age from 3 years old and upwards with classes being offered for all age groups in all forms of dance, including ballet, jazz, modern, pas de deux and hip hop.
Pacific DanceArts respects the unique qualities of each individual and develops the young dancers' artistic talents without discouraging the students' joy of dance. Each student is supported and encouraged to explore their creative path. Pacific DanceArts is committed to provide up to date dance training and will continue to evolve in step with the world of dance.
The Half-day Intensive Training Program is one of the most successful programs of its kind in Canada. Today, Pacific DanceArts is truly an international dance institution with students from the USA, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Holland, Japan, China, and across Canada. Students travel to Vancouver from local places such as Vancouver Island, Interior BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, as well as from across the world, to train specifically with Pacific DanceArts.
In only ten years time, more than 70 percent of the Half-day Intensive students have moved on to professional dance companies around the world in countries including Canada, the United States, Europe, Mexico and Japan. Alumni of Pacific DanceArts are now dancing in such companies as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Ballet Jorgen, Milwaukee Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Houston Ballet and Compaaaa de Danza Cllsica y Neocllsica de Jalisco in Mexico.
